“To develop Arakuzha as a model green and safe village by protecting its natural beauty and environment, promoting sustainable growth in the agricultural and tourism sectors, and ensuring the inclusive development of marginalized communities through decentralized planning.”
Mission
To realize the above vision, the major missions of the Panchayat are:
🌾 Agricultural Development and Livelihoods
- Promote traditional agriculture and plantation crops such as tea, coffee and pepper, while providing better marketing facilities for farmers.
- Expand self-employment and entrepreneurship programmes to ensure economic security for plantation workers and the general population.
🏞️ Environmental Protection and Disaster Mitigation
- Protect the unique landscape and natural environment of Meppady, which forms part of the Western Ghats.
- Ensure a safe and secure habitat through scientific soil and water conservation measures and effective disaster preparedness and mitigation activities.
- Promote sustainable and responsible tourism.
🏥 Infrastructure Development and Healthcare
- Ensure quality roads, adequate drinking water supply and scientific waste management in all wards, while strengthening the activities of the Haritha Karma Sena.
- Provide accessible and quality healthcare services and educational facilities for all sections of society.
🤝 Social Justice and Public Welfare
- Formulate special programmes to improve the living standards of marginalized communities, plantation workers and tribal communities.
- Give priority to women’s empowerment and the welfare of children and senior citizens.
💻 Transparent Governance
- Involve people actively in the development process through People’s Planning and active participation in Gram Sabhas.
- Fully digitize Panchayat services and provide transparent, corruption-free and efficient governance to the people.
